Car Park
A photo from our appartment in Ukmerge, Lithuania from 2006.
Lithuanian’s have this parking challenge with their buildings in that most of the buildings were constructed in an era where the ordinary citizen or even family did not always own a car. Now that they are car proud consumers you often have parking battles around most residential buildings. It’s impressive where a Lithuanian can manage to park their car, I certainly always found it difficult to adapt. Basically you take the attitude ‘every driver for themselves’ and you can understand how people will react, don’t expect people to let you in for traffic or a car space.
Our appartment was quite reasonable though, Ukmerge is basically a large village and doesn’t have the car problems that Vilnius does quite yet.
